What are Summer Camps?
Summer Camps provide kids with the chance to develop character, learn valuable life skills, make new friends, and discover new interests. Summer camps are not usually catered to troubled teens, however there are times that they can be used to re-direct a child back on the right path if they have not viered off to far. Teens with negative peer association and minor depression would benefit more from a summer camp than a child with defiance.
When are Summer Camps Used?
Summer camps work best for problems that have been
caught early by the parents of teens that are experiencing very minor issues. Summer Camps provide the forum for struggling
youth to evaluate their behaviors. Not all Summer Camps are created equal, therefore, we
suggest contacting a consultant to answer any questions or concerns about Summer Camps.
What do Summer Camps Offer?
Summer Camps are short term so they typically do not
provide therapy or treatment of any kind. Because of the environment, you may not even be able to contract with outside
private services to work with your teenager with affecting and behavioral problems through therapy. The duration
of most Summer Camps range between thirty to ninety days, typically the duration of summer. Boot camps may benefit a child
that enjoys a good exercise program who doesn't have emotional or behavioral problems. Typically
teens who need just a little wake up call are those who may benefit from these camps.
The Summer Camps we work with are State Licensed intervention
programs for children who may be experiencing slight emotional, academic, and/or behavioral problems.
